Introducing Diamond Devotionals

So the goal for the upcoming year is to incorporate a new idea into my blog and do a much better job at keeping it updated. This is a concept I came up with coming home from a tournament last summer and its an idea that has stuck with me as I continue to work with youth athletes in a coaching capacity both privately and at the team level. I find myself at a loss for words sometimes as I watch the interactions among youth athletes. We have children that are struggling with basic concepts of decency and independence. They are struggling with leadership, competitive drive, hard work vs. laziness, honesty, resilience, sportsmanship, integrity, respect and focus among other concepts.

I wanted to put together a vlog about being a decent human being in hopes that one day youth, adults or just people in general would read or watch the videos on this blog and relate or take something positive away from their experience. I want to equip the youth of today so they can give back to the fabric of life as adults tomorrow. So when I grow up to be the older generation, I am not overwhelmed by cynicism and disappointment at the actions of the younger generation and think that I could have done a better job. I want to leave this world with zero regrets and it will start with my life work. Did I do everything I could to equip my daughter to be the best version of herself I could?

The other part of this blog is to hopefully instill some connections with these concepts and a God of my higher power. I want these athletes to feel that there is a greater purpose in our lives and there is someone behind the scenes that they can count on to get them through those tough situations and someone they can lean on and depend on when the going gets tough. I want them to know that they aren’t alone. There is a greater lesson to be learned in youth sports today and I don’t want to be afraid to teach it.

First installment of Diamond Devotionals will be posted tomorrow where we will tackle the idea of How to have good Character and Matthew 7:17… see ya tomorrow!!!!
